In another showing of just how primitive the Middle East is, an American woman was arrested by the Mutaween police. This is essentially the “religious police” in Saudi Arabia. Yes, the same place we buy most of our oil from. Apparently the power in her office went out so she went to the local Starbucks with a colleague to continue working. Shortly after arriving she was approached by “…men with very long beards and white dresses.” If you ask me, those dudes need to be arrested and charged on a major dress-code violation. But hey, to each his own right?

The woman was taken to a prison, stripped searched (bet the dress wearing dudes secretly liked that) and forced to sign confessions of guilt. She later stood before a judge who condemned her behavior, telling her she would “burn in hell”.

Is it just me or is there something strange about having a ‘Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice’ police force? This police force has 10,000 members. Keep in mind, this is not the police you would call if say, you wanted to report a robbery. That would be handled by the “real” cops.
