Hot off the press today, CNN is reporting that hundreds of women in Iraq are brutally killed (some in front of their children) for not following Islamic law. These women have been found beheaded, beaten, strangled, and in some cases had their arms and legs removed. Not that any crime is worthy of such a punishment, but these women were guilty of nothing more than failing to wear their headscarf or in violation of other Islamic teachings.
What is it going to take for these people to wake up and smell the reality? It’s like looking through a time portal back to the Middle Ages when I read about these actions. Have we not evolved enough to see that this is simply wrong on so many levels? It amazes me what people are capable of doing all in the name of religion.

The Christians bible advocates the same level of barbarity. There is no difference between Muslims and Christians regarding the idiocy of their respective beliefs. Both want the blood of the other, all in the name of their mythical gods. Religion is the business of the acquisition and maintenance of great wealth and political power. Remove the money and the politics from any religion and you have no religion.
And lizard, learn to spell.

I’m sorry lizard but how can the killing of someone be justified simply because the teachings in a book say it is. You talk of evolution yet you support pointless murder? Perhaps you should look at your own sense of right and wrong, it’s looks like it could use it’s own bit of evolution.

@lizard. “to each there own” should be fine… but this is not a matter of each person’s own belief. This is a matter of someone else’s belief being imposed on other people forcibly!
@Mark & Mattius, well said.

lizard, nobody made me god. In fact, I’d rather be made anything but. Let’s just say I don’t have the stomach for all the pain and suffering in my name. For a moment just try to think about what this post is saying. People are being murdered because they are not wearing a headscarf. With all that is happening on this planet I would hate to think your god cares that much about what women wear.
